The Diploma in Business Administration is a vocational and industry oriented qualification. The knowledge emphasizes general principles, application and technology in the commercial field. The Diploma in Business Administration provides students with a knowledge base and the ability to apply their knowledge and skills in Business Management. It also equips them to undertake other more specialised and intensive learning. The programme is intended to provide students with access to the labour market. It will provide students with the necessary skills to contribute to economic growth. Progression to higher levels of Business Administration & Management is possible.

 

This programme is designed for students to enhance their employment prospects or to provide a qualification in Business Administration with a view to persuing a vocational career in Economic, Public Management, human resource management or Supply Chain Management. In the second and third years, students are introduced to more substantial topics and procedures associated with intermediate, vocation and theoretical knowledge required at middle management level to support effective
decision making.

The Diploma in Business Administration provides students with a knowledge base in the Business field and the ability to apply their knowledge and skills in Human Resource Management and Business Management. It also equips them to undertake other more specialized and intensive learning. This Diploma in Business Administration includes work integrated learning.

The programme is intended to provide our students with access to the labour market. It will provide students with the necessary skills to contribute to economic growth.

 

This programme is based on three fundamental disciplines:

  1. Internal Business Environment
  2. External Business Environment
  3. Practical and experiential Skills

At the end of the programme the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and Understanding in the field of business management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of concepts, terms, and rules, principles of business, business management, the management processes and the business environment and to give a broad overview of the different management functions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and interpretation of the legal environment for sound business practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of allocation of scarce resources, policy decisions and their implications for society (i.e.macroeconomic environment)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts and principles of human resource policies and practices and to understand the importance of training and development programmes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key concepts and methods of Business Statistics
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Concepts and principles of Computer usage in Business.

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an endorsement for admission to a Diploma

• The National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement

• Further Education and Training (FET) NQF Level 4

• Mature age exemption for people above the age of 23 years as set out in the Higher Education Regulations.
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
