The Bachelor of Commerce degree is designed to provide graduates for leadership development in a business, governmental or community organisation. A wide range of Leadership, Managerial and Business Skills are developed. The Bachelor’s degree equips students with a solid theoretical knowledge, supported by strong problem solving, critical & analytical
thinking as well as decision-making skills.

 

A key programme objective is to provide students with perceptual and analytical skills necessary in decision making, policy evaluation and an understanding of the social, economic and regulatory busines enviornment.

Bachelor of Commerce is a three year programme with 372 credits, pitched at NQF 7. This programme is offered in both Contact and distance mode .Students registered for this programme will be studying 30 modules spread across three academic years. The modules are carefully distributed over  all three years of study taking into account the required knowledge areas and the depth of the subjects so that every student registered will enjoy his/her  academic journey.

  • In the first year the student will be studying 6 modules per semester, one of which is an elective.
  • In the second year they will be studying 5 modules per semester, one of which is an elective
  • In the third and final year, the student will be studying 9 modules per year, 4 modules in the first semester and 5 modules in the second semester.

Admission requirements for Bachelor of Commerce is as follows:

 

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an endorsement to a Degree coupled with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement
  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a pass in Higher Certificate with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement
  • The National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement
  • Further Education and Training (FET) NQF Level Mature age exemption for people above the age of 23 years as set out in the Higher Education Regulations.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
