The Bachelor of Business Administration promotes the development of knowledge and skills that are required in all sub-sectors of business management, thus providing opportunities for students to move between the different sectors of the economy.
The Bachelor of Business Administration produces knowledgeable, intellectually skilled individuals who are able to contribute to improved productivity and efficiency within organisations both in the Public & Private Sectors. Administrative skills and knowledge are developed.

The main purpose of the Bachelor of Business Administration is to promote the development of knowledge and skills that are required in all sub-sectors of management; to release the potential of people; and to provide opportunities for people to move up the value chain and between the different sectors of the economy.

 

The Bachelor of Business Administration should produce knowledgeable, intellectually skilled individuals who are able to contribute to improved productivity and efficiency within the organisation. It should provide the means for current individuals in the general management field to receive recognition of prior learning and to upgrade their skills and knowledge base.

 

The qualification is structured in such a way that it exposes individuals to a set of core competences to give a broad understanding of general and public management and the electives, which will allow for a specific competence in management. It will also promote the notion of life-long learning.

Students successfully completing this qualification will master among others foundational competencies associated with:

The qualifying student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to use a specialised skills to and analyse solve complex or abstract problems in the different business management fields
  • demonstrate the ability to present and communicate academically, professional texts to a range of audiences which may include creative insights, rigorous interpretations and solutions to problems and issues in context
  • demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a system, or manage a system based on an understanding of the roles and relationships between elements within the system
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply him/her – self in a critical manner by learning strategies which effectively address his/hers professional and ongoing learning needs.
  • demonstrate accountability and responsibility for his/hers own work, decision-making, the use of resources and actions of others where appropriate
  • Demonstrate knowledge and interpretation of the commercial contractual business relationships
  • Demonstrate applied knowledge and understanding of allocation of scarce resources, policy decisions and their implications for society (i.e.macroeconomic environment)
  • Apply the principles and practices of human resource aspects
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key concepts and methods of Business Statistics
  • Evaluate the feasibility of projects in the business world
  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an endorsement to a degree coupled with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement.
  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) and a Higher Certificate with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement.
  • The National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with appropriate combinations of recognised subjects and levels of achievement.
  • Further Education and Training (FET) NQF Level 4. Mature age exemption for people above the age of 23 years as set out in the Higher Education Regulations.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
